Creating and Using a Scorecard for Perioperative Decision Support
Decision support strategy is something that must be woven into everyday analysis. Having access to a well-structured scorecard with meaningful indicators for your facility is a key ingredient for data-based decision making and provides a snapshot of performance to measure for early course correction when indicated.
The indicators should be outcome driven and provide informative data that can be assimilated and assessed across all levels of the department and the organization. They should include the "big picture" items such as pay-for-performance measures to identify actual to benchmark, as well as customized indicators that may be inherent to a particular facility or region.
The presentation will provide a guide, both descriptively and visually, to the development and utilization of a performance-based scorecard. This tool is meant to be a snapshot to identify opportunities for early intervention and to provide a visual of adherence to applicable standards.
- After completion of this continuing nursing education activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify the value of building a scorecard for data-based decision making support.
- Identify applicable indicators, both typical and customized.
- Format the inclusion of organizational data drivers.
