Going Rep-less: Key Challenges and Opportunities
Orthopedic sales reps are under scrutiny as their presence in the operating room has been linked to higher implant costs, reduced operational efficiency, and increased risk to the hospital. The need to increase efficiency and reduce costs in the surgical episode will only increase with recent changes in healthcare payment reform and an expanding patient population.
Select hospitals have already begun to find ways to reduce the impact of vendors in the surgical suite. However, “going rep-less” is not enough; simultaneous clinical and operational measures must be taken to fill the gap left by the rep. This webinar will show you how to identify the clinical and operational initiatives necessary to support a rep-free OR.
After completion of this continuing nursing education activity, participants will be able to:
- Define the broad impact of the sales rep from a cost and clinical perspective.
- Assess your hospital’s readiness to pursue a rep-less initiative.
- Identify clinical resources need to support reduction of reps.
- Understand which operational processes need to be in place before going rep-less.
