Reducing Costs: Cost per Case Data Improved with Procedure Cohorts
If you’ve ever tried to talk to a physician about cost per case, you may have heard a response like this: “My patients are sicker. My patients are more complicated. The data is wrong.” How do you respond to that? Intermountain Healthcare’s ProComp project has 3 years of experience tackling this tough conversation. A patent-pending process for building procedure cohorts provides physician-vetted procedure groups. Physicians now join meetings knowing the data is reliable, meaningful, and unblended. Join this webinar to learn strategies for increasing physician engagement with data review. Please invite your data analyst to join this webinar with you!
After completion of this continuing nursing education activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe the challenges of reviewing data based on procedure codes.
- Describe how physicians provide input as procedure cohorts are defined.
- Identify how clinical notes can be used to even further refine procedure cohorts.
