Today’s value analysis committees have a tug-of-war. We still live in a fee-for-service world, but it is evolving toward value-based care. Pressures to achieve optimal clinical, quality, and financial objectives can be daunting. Very few integrated health systems have fully adopted value-based care, and there is significant opportunity for improvement in healthcare delivery. We know the long-term trends, but how do we translate those into today’s environment? How do we manage our multiple stakeholder interests while still achieving our patient outcome, quality, and financial goals?

Bob Dybec is the OR Nurse Manager for NYU Winthrop and also a member of the value analysis committee. He has served as both faculty and a speaker for numerous professional organizations, including AORN, and he is the author of numerous articles and posters. He has a master’s degree in healthcare administration from New York University.
